Patricia Arlene Byrne, 80, of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at her residence after a long illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Brent Lingle as Celebant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Boniface Catholic Church. Patricia was born on December 18, 1936, in Sioux City, the daughter of John (Hans) Fredrick Minnig and Esther Ernestine (Brasch) Minning. Patricia grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1955. She was involved in choir in high school.
Patricia married Thomas Dale Byrne on February 3, 1962 in Sioux City. She worked for several years for the Social Security Administration and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa. Patricia was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, volunteering with several church activities and projects, also volunteering at the soup kitchen. She enjoyed outdoor activities, gardening, roses, old movies, traveling, crossword puzzles, and reading a good book.
Survivors include four children, James R. Byrne of Sioux City, William J. Byrne and his wife Mindy of Sioux City, Karen K. Glamann and her husband Trent of Kearney, Missouri, and Barbara L. Byrne of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Abby Byrne, Jacob Byrne, Steven Byrne, Megan Glamann, and Garrett Glamann; and her sister Carol (Minnig) Willsey of Sioux City.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, huband Tom in 2014, and her sister Beverly (Minnig) Ford.
