SIOUX CITY | Velma “Louise” Ivener, 76, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. with Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at New Virginia Cemetery, New Virginia, Iowa. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service today and continue following the service at the luncheon. Louise was born November 24, 1940 in New Virginia. She was the daughter of Ernest and Wilma (McIntosh) McCuddin. In 1959, she graduated from New Virginia High School then attended the University of Northern Iowa Teachers College.
She married Thomas F. Brown in 1961 and to that union three daughters were born. She later married Barre Ivener.
Louise was in the real estate business for over 40 years and just retired in 2016.
She enjoyed shows, theater, her bridge club and golf. She loved playing the piano and her outdoor flowers. Louise was an avid sports fan especially when it came to the Iowa Hawkeyes and the New England Patriots.
Louise was a longtime member of the Church of The Nativity.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Sherry and Dennis McCarthy of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Lisa and Michael Krohn of Sergeant Bluff, IA and Renee and Paul Mayer of Discovery Bay, California; 8 grandchildren, Brittney (Matthew) Jaminet, Courtney McCarthy (fiance, Casey Orthaus), Emily (Jesse) Davenport, Andrew Krohn (fiancée, Mandy Arens), Austin Krohn, Kelsey Krohn, Cody Mayer and Brandon, Mayer; 6 great-grandchildren, Cowan, Caden, Cale and Cambree Jaminet, Harlow Davenport and Keylee Arens; a sister and her husband, Gwendolyn and Frank Ayala of Beaumont, California; a sister-in-law, Arleen McCuddin of New Virginia, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her parents and beloved brother, Merrill McCuddin.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
