Nannette M. Beaver

January 10, 1941 — April 9, 2017

   

NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD | Nannette M. "Nan" Beaver, 76, of North Sioux City, SD passed away Sunday, Apr. 9, 2017 surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

 

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Dakota Dunes, SD. Rev. Joe Vogel will officiate. Per Nan's wishes, she will be cremated after services on Wednesday and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, IA. Nan was born Jan. 10, 1941 in South Sioux City, NE. She was the daughter of Beulah (Girard) and Darrel Brown. She grew up in the North Sioux City and Jefferson, SD area and attended Jefferson High School. Nan married Bernard D. Beaver and together they had 5 children.

 

Nan worked at Sunshine Food Store then had her own in-home daycare for many years. After the Day care she managed her father and mother's business, Mel's Pawn Shop for 15 years.

 

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City for many years and was a member of the Alter Society until moving to North Sioux City where she joined St. Teresa's Parish. She was also a member of the South Sioux City Eagle's Club.

 

Nan loved Husker football and camping at Woodland Camp Ground. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, her cribbage club at the Glass Palace in North Sioux, dancing, gardening, bowling, and, fishing. Most of all, she loved spending times with her family.

                                                                         

Survivors include her father, Darrel Brown of North Sioux City, SD; 5 children and spouses, Bernie Beaver (Terri Jo) of Sioux City, Kathy Cole (Allen) of Ankeny, IA, Christine Ahrens of Elkhorn, NE, Sandra Johnson (Troy) of Omaha, NE and Matthew Beaver of Omaha, NE; 12 grandchildren, Katie Jo Beaver (Toni), Kelsie Beaver, Ryan Beaver (Allysen), Rylie Beaver, Drew Cole (Johanna), Alex Cole, Zachary Cole (Dani), Amanda Ahrens, Candace Ahrens, Seth Johnson, Gracie Johnson and Hunter Johnson; 6 great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Talan, Anna, Kenedy, Carter and Harlow; 3 sisters, Nola (Ray) Christiansen of Sioux City, IA, Karen Tullis (Rocky Nagel) of Jackson, NE, Brenda (Jose) Flores of South Sioux City, NE; sister-in-law, Melody (Gary) Molacek of Omaha; a devoted niece, Janet Barber of Sioux City and many other nieces and nephews who were very dear to their Aunt Nan's heart and she treasured them all.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Beulah Brown; brother, Kenneth Clay; sister, Bonnie Clay; and nephew, Josh Beavers.

 

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
