He rode on several AGONY bike rides which he helped name. Annual Great OverNight to Yankton. He liked to work on his farm and take care of the animals and ride the horses with his wife. He loved the mountains and Hawaii.

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Optimus of South Sioux City, had been on the Boys and Girls Club Board, volunteered with STARS, and enjoyed teaching english as a 2nd language at Northeast Community College in South Sioux City, and participating in the Iris Program at KWIT. A great joy in his life were his grandchildren.
