Richard L. Donner, 55, of South Sioux City, NE died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Cremation will take place and private services will be held at a later date.
Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City is in charge of arrangements.
Richard Larry Donner, son of Eugene and Janet (Cross) Donner, was born September 27, 1961 in Norfolk, NE. Richard grew up and attended school in Sioux City, IA and South Sioux City, NE. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1979 and was Salutatorian of his class.
In 1987, Richard was united in marriage to Penny Conley in South Sioux City. They later divorced.
Richard worked various jobs until graduating Valedictorian of his class at Morningside College in 2006 with his Bachelors of Accounting degree. He then went to work for the IRS as an Internal Revenue Officer.
Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed going for drives around the area. Above all, he loved spending time with his family especially his granddaughters. He was a very spiritual man who attended River Hills Church in South Sioux City until his health began to fail. Richard always had an open door and open heart to family friends.
He is survived by his children: David Donner, Katie Donner and Kristofer Donner; two granddaughters: Esmay Kavitz and Charla Gurnsey; six siblings: Rodney (Jodi) Donner, Diana (Ted) King, Sherri (Matt) Kobs, Randall (Coral) Donner, Kristi (Roy) Donelson and Jeannine (Raymond) Aubele; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and one brother, Robert Donner.
