Donald R. White

Donald R. White, 86 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at a local care facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Len Halvorson will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Don was born November 2, 1930 in Sioux City; he was the son of Orville and Edith (Spangler). Don grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Leeds High School. And served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

On June 20, 1953 Don married Jean M. Vigen in Sioux City, she passed away on November 8, 2013 in Sioux City.

Don worked for MidAmerican Energy for 35 years and was stationed at the Port Neal Plant.

He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and was an avid bowler. Don was a fan of Morningside College athletics and was known as “Mustang Don”. He also followed the Iowa Hawkeyes and West High School athletics.

Survivors include his son David R. White of Omaha, NE.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Delores and Dorothy.
