Bevelyn A. “Bev” O’Brien passed away Sunday February 26, 2017 at a Sioux City nursing home.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 4, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Dan Rupp officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Bevelyn A. O’Brien was born February 17, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Edmund E. and Florence (Sloan) Schmidt. Bev graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1940 and attended Rockford College in Illinois on an art scholarship. Bev worked many years as a bookkeeper at the orthopedic office of Drs. Krigsten, Blenderman & Doughtery until her retirement in the mid 80’s.
Ms. O’Brien served as a long time volunteer at the Sioux City Public Library and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Carmel Guild, Blessed Sacrament Sewing Circle and the Siouxland crafters.
Bev enjoyed watercolor painting, crafting and sewing when time allowed.
Bev is survived by grandchildren: Corey Munson and his wife Mindy of Sioux City and their children Andrew, Taylor and Jordan; Erin Klopstad and her husband Andy of Gilbert, Iowa and their children Grace and Sam; Jill Grunst of West Des Moines and her children Kellen and Libby. Sister-in-law Claire O’Brien of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy A. Kirchner and her parents.
