Edward J., son of James W. and Margaret (Ryan) Tracy, was born February 12, 1925, in Westfield, Iowa. He grew up at Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School. Ed was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Korean War.
On June 25, 1976, Ed was united in marriage with Irene Mouw. They lived on Ed’s Westfield farm. Irene preceded him in death on December 1, 1992.
Ed was blessed with a second marriage, this time with Joann Knott on July 26, 1997. The couple made their home in Sioux City, and Ed continued to farm near Westfield until his retirement in September of 2005. Joann died on October 28, 2011.
Ed was a member of the Catholic Church. He attended Sacred Heart parish earlier in his life and most recently was a faithful member at St. Michael’s in Sioux City. Ed enjoyed fishing when he could, but above all, farming was his life.
Ed is survived by an adopted son Danny Dean and his wife Joan, and one niece Cathy Seiler and her husband Rob. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, two sisters Marcella Tracy and Veronica Tracy, and two brothers John and Bernard.
