NEWCASTLE, Nebr. | Dorothy H. Hoesing, 97, of Newcastle passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, Nebr.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle. Rev. Andrew Sohm will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Newcastle. Visitation with the family present will be 6-7 p.m. with a parish wake service at 7 p.m. at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Dorothy was born Aug. 25, 1919 in Ponca, Nebr. She was the daughter of William and Myrtle (Greene) Crombie. She grew up on the family farm with her three brothers and three sisters.
Dorothy worked as a hairdresser then owned and operated a café in Maskell, Nebr. She married Wayne Blatchford and to that union two daughters were born, Karen and Judith. Wayne passed away and Dorothy later married Orville Hoesing on Feb. 9, 1948 in Newcastle.
The couple farmed near Newcastle for many years. Orville died Aug. 7, 2009.
Dorothy was a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was one of the founding members of the Missouri River Bank Stabilization Association.
Orville and Dorothy loved going to rummage sales. She also enjoyed word searches, baking and antiques.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen Blatchford of South Sioux City, Nebr. and Judith Clary of Newcastle; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Carl Stotland, Lisa (Jeff) Kramer, Dr. Stephanie Stotland (Kevin Crowley) and Marla Stotland; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sisters, Grace Myers, Kathleen Bauman and Florence Tuttle; and 3 brothers, Lorin, Andrew and Lloyd Crombie.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Hoesing, Alfred Hoesing, Clair Hoesing, Andrew Hoesing, Chris Kneifl and Dan Hanson. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Crombie, James Hoesing, Fintan Hoesing, Daryl Hanson, Dr. Carl Stotland, Matthew Hoesing and Gene Blatchford.
