Carl H. Schuttpelz, 83 of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at a local nursing facility. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Jason Jackson officiating. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the service Monday evening. Interment will be at a later date.
Carl was born on February 25, 1933 in Homer, Nebraska to Carl H. and Marie (Beltz) Schuttpelz. He attended Perry County School #4. Carl married Barbara Jean Ferguson on September 21, 1957 in Sioux City, and the couple later divorced. Carl was a laborer at an agricultural processing facility in Siouxland, and retired in the late 1980s. On July 31, 1987, Carl married Lillian Marie Brown in Elk Point, South Dakota. His joys in life included fishing, walking, being outdoors and spending time with family.
Carl’s survivors include son Michael Schuttpelz of Arizona, son Martin (Rena Rice) Schuttpelz of South Sioux City, Nebraska, son Merlin Schuttpelz of Sioux City, Iowa, daughter Marlene (Scott) Smith of Sioux City, Iowa, son Matthew (Laura) Schuttpelz of Snyder, Nebraska, stepson Donald Brown of Sioux City, Iowa, stepdaughter Julie (Bob) Coney of Sioux City, Iowa, stepdaughter Wendy (Rick) Ohl of Sioux City, Iowa, stepdaughter Georgia (Carl Franklin) Brown of Mason, Ohio, and stepson Joshua Brown of Sioux City, Iowa; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; brother Walter (Sylvia) Schuttpelz of Hinton, Iowa, sister Mary Ellen (Dennis) Langly of Sioux City, Iowa, and sister Loretta (Ricky) Blake.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, son Marvin Schuttpelz in 1995, and grandson Anthony Pantona in 2007.
