Floyd Barnes III, 66 of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM on Monday, February 6, 2017, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Floyd, son of Floyd Barnes II and Kathryn (Hart) Barnes, was born June 24, 1950, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1968. Floyd then attended Western Iowa Tech in the electrician program.
In September of 1969, Floyd joined the United States Army and served as a radio relay and carrier attendant, with much of this time served Europe. After he received his honorable discharge, Floyd returned to Sioux City and worked with Terra Chemical and then John Morrell, from which he retired. On July 6, 1984, Floyd was united in marriage with Clydette Sylvia Kellogg in Elk Point, South Dakota. Two children were born to this union.
Floyd was a loving husband who enjoyed being with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, watching football, playing pool and driving around.
Floyd is survived by his wife Clydette Barnes; a son Jeremiah Barnes; a daughter Samantha Barnes; his grandson Logan Kluver; and two sisters Robin Britton and Frances Abramo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
