Kathleen Rae Lafferty

Kathleen Rae “Kathy” Lafferty, 62 of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Westwood Specialty Care.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Kathy was born May 3, 1954 in Yankton, SD; she was the daughter of Mathew R. and DeLoris (Jensen) Kleinschmidt, Jr. Kathy came to Sioux City as a child and grew up in Sioux City, she graduated from West High School.

On May 12, 1994, Kathy married Larry Lafferty in Elk Point, SD. Kathy enjoyed traveling with Larry who was an over the road truck driver.  Larry passed away April 25, 2014 in Sioux Falls, SD.

Kathy enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing, playing bingo and doing ceramics.

Survivors include her mother DeLoris Kleinschmidt of Sioux City; her brothers and sister Mathew J. Kleinschmidt III (Connie) of Sioux City, Vicky Behrens (Jerry) of Merrill, IA, Jeremy L. Kleinschmidt (Dawn) of Sioux City; her daughter Heather Lafferty of Vermillion, SD; 2 step sons: Jason and Kevin Lafferty both of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father Mathew, her husband Larry and a step granddaughter.
