Arthur "Junior" Lindell

SIOUX CITY, IA | Arthur J. “Junior” Lindell, 80, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday, January 23, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Chaplain Theresa Gehrke-Herwyhen officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Art was born Feb. 12, 1936 in Greene, IA. He was the son of Arthur F. and Olga P. (Sandine) Lindell. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Greene High School in 1954. He then attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA then he transferred to Iowa State University where he studied farm operations.

Art met his future wife, Marlene Kruse while at Wartburg. Before they were married he served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 until 1958. On Dec. 28, 1958 they said their vows in Newton, IA.

They made their first home on a farm near Dougherty, IA where they were blessed with two daughters, Deborah and Paula. Five years later Art took a job with Hydrotile Machinery Co. in Nashua, IA and worked there for 27 years. The company was sold to McCracken Co. in Sioux City in 1991. Art and Marlene transferred to Sioux City that same year. Art worked another 10 years and then retired in 2001.

Art was a longtime member of both the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star where he received his 50 year pin for each. He was proud to serve as an OES Worthy Patron in both Nashua and Sioux City.

He was a member of Siouxland Center for Active Generations, enjoyed golf, fishing and time with his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Deborah O’Brien of Waverly, IA and Paula Saul of Mesa, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Tiffany (Tony) Skaggs, Nathaniel O’Brien, Jesse O’Brien and Michael Saul; 4 great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Elizabeth, Benjamin and Remy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marlene, two brothers Glenn and Arvid, one sister Betty and son-in-law, Mark Saul.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
