Mrs. Brown was born May 16, 1927, in Deshler, Nebraska, the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Kahle) Beckler. She attended Sioux City schools, graduating from East High School. She married Norman (Pete) J. Brown on July 10, 1945, in Sioux City. She was a homemaker and loving mother to their four children; Dennis, Thomas, Sandra and Sharon. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she served in various capacities throughout the years. Mrs. Brown’s greatest strength and joy came from her faith in God and her family. Always supportive of her family, she and her husband enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in activities when they were growing up.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Thomas and Gail Brown of Sioux City, two daughters Sandra Andersen of Sioux City and Sharon Taylor of Kansas City, MO, six grandchildren, Michael and Barry Andersen, Steven and Roger Brown, Steven Hemmingstad, and Wendy (Brown) Boehme, sister-in-law Betty Ann Beckler of Golden, MO, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her oldest son, Dennis (Vietnam 1966), her parents, and her brother, Dale Beckler.
Memorials in her name may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Many thanks to Michael and Kyle Andersen who took such loving care of our mother during the early months of her illness. We are also grateful to Hospice for their professional care and kindness shown to our mother.
Our mother was an integral part of our family and was loved very much. She was extremely optimistic and always willing to help those around her. We take comfort in knowing she is now with our Lord Jesus and loved ones who passed before her.
