Shirley Warden

Shirley J. Warden, 89, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Thursday, January 12, 2017 at a local care center. 

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Michael Cronin officiating.  Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.   

Shirley was born December 9, 1927 in Sioux City, the daughter of George and Gladys Goodman.  She married Donald J. Warden on August 1, 1953 in Sioux City, and he preceded her in death on September 10, 2010.  Shirley was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards and bingo, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.  

Survivors include her children:  Steve and wife Sue Warden of Sioux City, Lynn and husband Kirk Peterson of Sioux City, Lisa and husband Steve McLaughlin of Edmond, OK, and Jeff and wife Shanna Warden of Lawton, IA; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.  Serving as pallbearers are Steve Warden, Kirk Peterson, Troy Peterson, Benn Peterson, Steve McLaughlin and Jeff Warden.  Honorable pallbearers are John Smith, Gale Edward Smith and Mark McLaughlin.   

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, a brother and a sister. 

Shirley was truly a kind and beautiful woman whose greatest passion was caring for others.  She will be dearly missed.
