Marguerite M. O'Neill

Marguerite M. O’Neill, 94, of Jackson, Nebraska passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson with Father Paul Albenesius officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. with the family present from 5-7 P.M. at the church. 

Marguerite was born December 22, 1922 in Sioux City, the daughter of Ernest and Mary Ann (Sejnoha) Sammons. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. Marguerite married Alfred Brienzo on May 2, 1946 in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1991. Marguerite married Erwin O’Neill on August 4, 2002 in Jackson, Nebraska.

Marguerite was a teacher’s aide for the Jefferson, South Dakota High School for fifteen years. She was a beautiful singer and passionate about music and her family.

Marguerite and Erwin were active members of the South Sioux City Senior Center and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where Marguerite was part of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Marguerite enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking.

Survivors include her husband Erwin O’Neill of Jackson, NE; children: Robert (Corneisha) Brienzo of Spring, TX, Gary (Ann) Brienzo of Lincoln, NE, and Tina (Elliotte) Saunders of Jackson, NE; stepchildren: Vicky (Larry) Jacobsen, Dawn O’Neill, Debbie (Doug) Smith, and Larry O’Neill; grandchildren: Michael and Anthony Brienzo and Desiree and Delaney Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred Brienzo, four brothers, two sisters, and stepson Dave O’Neill.
