ONAWA, IA | Gary Lee Rowe, 78 of Onawa and formerly of Sioux City passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Visitation with the family will be the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Gary was born April 27, 1938 in Sioux City the son of Donald and Vivian (Marsh) Rowe. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School.
He worked for Knoepfler Chevrolet for over 20 years and then Gary retired from the City of Sioux City as a surveyor after 20 plus years.
In January of 1996 he married Shirley D. Bowman. He was a loving husband, dad and grandfather. His family and his dogs were his life.
Gary enjoyed hunting, camping and Harley Davidsons.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; 7 children, Candi (Brody) Gerritson of Ames, IA, Joseph (Belinda) Rowe of Houston, TX, Rick (Melody) Bowman of Independence, Louisiana, Robin (Mike) Closter of Sgt. Bluff, IA; Jamie (Jeri) Bowman of South Sioux City, NE, Robert (Erin) Bowman of South Sioux City, NE and Shawn (Troy) Webster of Lincoln, NE; a sister, Karla (Dennis) Champlin of Santa Fe, NM; 16 grandchildren, Aleshia, Austin, Benjamin, Cameron, Isabella, Kali, Ashley, Blair, Dustin, Brittany, Breana, Jordan, Kody, Karlie, McKayla and McKenzie; and 11 great-grandchildren, Kaydin, Dani, Theo, Khloe, Kamryn, Kennedi, Olivia, Max, Paisley, Alyxander and Kamryn.
