Newcastle, NE – Adell, H. Bennett, 69, of Newcastle, NE died Friday, December 30, 2016, at a Sioux Falls hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 4th, 2017, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle with Father Andrew Sohm and Father Jim Kramper, concelebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Newcastle. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday with a wake service at 7 p.m. at the church. Adell H. Bennett, daughter of Donald and Sylvia (Gregg) Nelson, was born January 1, 1947 in Ponca, NE. She grew up in the Maskell/Newcastle area and graduated from Newcastle High School.
On September 10, 1966, Adell was united in marriage to Barry Bennett at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. To this union three children were born: Susan, Scott, and Daniel. The family made their home near Newcastle. Adell worked various places prior to working at the Newcastle Community School until her retirement in 2015. In addition, she was a caretaker for her parents for several years.
Adell was an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church which included the Ladies Sodality and teaching religious education classes. She enjoyed painting, cooking and walking. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with her friends. She will be remembered for her unique laughter.
Adell is survived by her husband, Barry Bennett of Newcastle; one daughter, Susan (LaMont) Johnson of Crofton, NE; two sons: Scott (Angie) Bennett and Daniel Bennett all of Newcastle; four grandchildren: Makenzie and Madison Johnson and Brigette and Brenden Bennett; three siblings: Ivadell Burcham of Obert, NE, Loy (Karen) Nelson of Maskell, NE, and Linda (Francis) Ausdemore of Ponca, NE; a sister-in-law, Bev Nelson of Laurel, NE; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Martin and Larry Nelson; a brother-in-law, Robert Burcham; two nephews: Marty Nelson and Jacob Bennett; and one niece, Tammie Rasmussen.
