Marilyn Taylor, age 73, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at her home. Graveside services will be held later this spring at Graceland Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Marilyn Dianna, daughter of Floyd and Mary Jo (Richards) Peterson, was born January 25, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1961. Marilyn then attended business school and worked as a bookkeeper at Warren Supply.
In 1965, Marilyn married Lorrell Wetrosky. They later divorced in 1974. On January 12, 1989, Marilyn was blessed with second marriage, this time with Michael Taylor in Elk Point, South Dakota. They made their home in Sioux City, where they operated M & M Carpet Cleaning and Sew Rite. Marilyn and Mike also enjoyed playing music at the two bars they owned downtown, and at numerous other venues. Marilyn loved the game of pool and participated in many pool leagues. She also enjoyed playing bingo, riding motorcycles and practicing judo and karate. Marilyn was a loving caregiver to many of her family members.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Mike Taylor; two daughters Deb (Jeff) Sherar, and Dianna Longwell; a nephew who she raised Larry Joe (Debora) Peterson; a brother Larry Peterson; a sister Janice Rodio; a step-son, Travis (Tony) Taylor; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Carla Lange, a brother Joey Bray, and a son-in-law Mark Longwell.
