Darlene V. Tracy, 91 of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City passed away on Saturday December 17, 2016 at a nursing facility in Omaha, NE following a long illness with Dementia.
Graveside Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday December 22, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the donor’s choice of a dementia focused charity. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel has assisted the family.
Darlene was born on December 15, 1925 in Sioux City to Shirley P. and Nellie (Moss) Atwood. She graduated from Sioux City Central High School with the Class of 1943. She worked as a bookkeeper/secretary in Sioux City for Cudahy Packing, Bob Tagatz Pontiac, Pamida Corporation, and the Woodbury County Courthouse. Darlene married Randall Tracy on July 29, 1967 in Sioux City. She enjoyed singing, drawing, working with puzzles, sharing her ventriloquist skills with the help of her side-kick “Charlie McCarthy” and had a special love for animals, especially dogs. Darlene was a life-long member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and lived in Sioux City her entire life prior to moving to Omaha in 2004.
Darlene is survived by her daughter Roxiann (Terry) Timmons of Omaha, NE; granddaughter Trisha (Sean) Straus of Fishers, IN, (daughters Brianna and Abby); daughter-in-law Mary Jo Goebel of Kansas City, MO; grandsons Jason Goebel (daughter Olivia) and Chad Goebel (son Steven) all of Kansas City, MO; stepdaughters Randi Tracy of Sioux City and Toni (Dave) Cooper of Moville, IA; and step- grandchildren Dave Cooper, Amber Allyn (stepdaughter Haleigh) and Traci (David) Weinreich (sons Michael and Daniel).
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Steve Goebel, brother’s Samuel and Leonard Atwood and an infant brother.
