Elmer A. Rizk, D.D.S, 102, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Private family services will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. Daniel Rupp will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Dr. Rizk was born August 13, 1914 in Sioux City; he was the son of Elias and Jameley (Joseph) Rizk. He graduated from East High School, Creighton University and then from Dental School at the University of Iowa. Dr. Rizk served in the U.S. Army during WW II from 1941 to 1946. He served in Europe and was honorably discharged as a captain.
Dr. Rizk married Evelyn Perkins November 17, 1945 in Gadsden, AL. She passed away February 10, 1993 in Sioux City.
Dr. Rizk practiced dentistry in Sioux City for 43 years. He was a life member of the American Dental Association, a member of the Sioux City Dental Society and the Northwest Iowa Dental Society.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and member of the Sioux City Country Club for almost 80 years.
Survivors include his children: Jameley Levich (Jim) of Sioux City, Dr. Fred Rizk (Kathy) of Sioux City,
James Rizk (Karen) of Omaha, NE, John Rizk of Phoenix, AZ; 2 sisters: Rose DeGrasse of San Antonio, TX and Frieda Sullivan of Omaha, NE; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Dr. Rizk was preceded in death by his parents and a son Richard.
Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the Carmelite Monastery.
