Frances J. Collins, 103, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Whispering Creek Retirement Community.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Memorial may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Siouxland.

Frances Johanna, daughter of Frank and Hulda (Lindquist) Swanson, was born March 4, 1913, in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in 1931. Frances then attended comptometer school and took a course in accounting. She met Chuck Collins when they both worked at D.K. Baxter Co. On August 19, 1942, the couple was united in marriage in Boise, Idaho.

Frances was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, a 50-year member of Eastern Star, a member of Daughters of the Nile where she served as queen from 1962-1963. She also served as a member of the Rainbow Board.

Survivors include two daughters: Pat (Ed) Westbrook of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Carol Schneider of Mineola, New York; four grandchildren: Don Westbrook, Debi Copple, Clint Schneider and Kelly Karlsen; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chuck of 60 years, toddler brother Hubert, her twin brother Elmer, and beloved sister Helen.
