Alvin Frederick Jipp of Sioux City and formerly of Storm Lake and Aurelia, passed away on Friday, December 2nd, 2016 in Sioux City, Iowa.
A private family memorial service was held at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Pastor David Koehler of United Faith Presbyterian Church will officiate. Private burial service for the family will be at the Hartley Pleasant View Cemetery. The Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Alvin Jipp, the son of Herman and Minnie (Krebs) Jipp was born March 13, 1919. He attended the Hartley Public School and graduated with the class of 1936. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa.
Alvin married Gladys Marie Luetkeman on August 31, 1947, and to this union three children were born-Connie, Randall, and Diane. The family lived and farmed north of Sutherland for seventeen years until they purchased a farm north of Aurelia in 1963. Upon retirement from farming in 1979, they built a home in Storm Lake where they lived until moving to Whispering Creek Retirement Center of Sioux City in 2012. Alvin's love of his life was his family and farming. He and Gladys also found great enjoyment in travel with extensive sight-seeing throughout the United States and around the world.
Alvin was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church of Storm Lake. He passed away at Whispering Creek Retirement Center at the age of 97 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Lawrence and Ray; and one grandson, Kevin Hess.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gladys; two daughters, Connie (Rollyn) Hess of Wentworth, SD and Diane (Tom) Bousquet of Dakota City, NE; one son, Randall (Kay) Jipp of Aurelia, IA; one sister-in-law, Leona Jipp of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Shelley, Gina, Josh, Emily, Devin, and Kelsey; six great grandchildren, Ashley, Nick, Brayden, Carter, Josiah, and Lukas; and other relatives and friends.
