Elizabeth A. “Liz” White, 72 of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Paul’s Indian Mission with Rev. Dr. Marilyn van Duffelen officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the Church with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Liz was born March 17, 1944 in Winnebago, NE; she was the daughter of Mike Rockwood and Nora LaCroix. Liz grew up in Santee, NE and in Sioux City. She attended Marty Indian Mission in South Dakota, St. Augustine Indian Mission in Winnebago and Woodrow Wilson in Sioux City. Liz moved to California for a short time and then returned to Sioux City. She married James T. White October 8, 1964 in Dakota City, NE.
Liz worked for IBP for over 20 years.
Liz was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Indian Mission. She enjoyed sewing, doing arts and crafts, genealogy and playing Bingo. She did volunteer work at St. Paul’s Indian Mission and at Four Directions.
Survivors include her husband James White of Sioux City; 4 children: Harry Raymond White of Sioux City, Brenda Kathleen Olson and her husband Mark of Charter Oak, IA, Thomas White of Sioux City, Jamie E. Messinger and her husband Robert of Champlain, MN; her sisters and brother: Beverly Estes of Sioux City, Harriett Jackson-Smith of Sioux City, Larry Frazier of Tecumseh, NE, Agnes Gamblin of Dalton, GA; 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandsons: Warren Edward White and Dustin James White; and 2 half siblings: Chuck Rockwood and Dorothy Thomas.
