Donald Doerr, 92, of Sioux City, formerly of Sun City West, Arizona, died Monday, November 21, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Don was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Julius and Katherine Doerr. During World War II, Don served in the U.S. Army at Okinawa in the 796th Ordinance Battalion and in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Harriet Eyden Doerr; his children: Kurt Doer and wife Cynthia, of Colorado; and Karen Gebhardt and husband Joel, of Sioux City; his 3 grandchildren: Gregory Doerr, Elizabeth Doerr and Britt (Kasey) Farrell; and 2 great-grandchildren (with one due in May). He is also survived by his brother Howard of Colorado. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob.
The family wishes any memorials be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West Arizona or an alternate choice.
