Thomas M. Madison

   Sioux City, Iowa – Thomas Merle Madison, 77, of Sioux City passed away on November 13, 2016, at Casa De Paz.

   Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Bert Burwell officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.   

   Thomas Madison was born in Sioux City, Iowa in 1938 and attended school in the Sioux City Community School District.  He worked as a union laborer in Sioux City.

   Thomas was known as an avid weight lifter and had a personal best bench press of 315 lbs.  He was a fixture at the Sioux City YMCA well into his fifties where the younger generation was in awe at how much he could lift and how hard he worked.  He was known to be an avid walker, often walking up to ten miles a day throughout Sioux City.  He was always a collector of antiques, dolls, hot wheels and albums.  Thomas was also known as a very good dancer around the Siouxland area well into his late sixties. Thomas loved his family more than anything in the world and was immensely proud of all of them.

   Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Dorothy Ellen Madison.  They were married in Sioux City, IA on November 16, 1996.

   He is lovingly remembered by his sons: Shane Madison and wife Stacy of Urbandale, IA, Eddie Madison and wife Lisa of Slater, IA and Tommy Madison of Sioux City, IA; his step-children: Becky Dickerson, Terry Fletcher and wife Gloria, Gary Fletcher and wife Shawna, Debbie Olsen all of Colorado and Kimberly Blue of Sioux City, IA; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother,  Jerry Madison and wife Sharon of Sioux City, IA and one sister, Dory Young of Sioux City, IA.

   Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Dorothy Madison; his former wife, Patsy Anne Knecht and his little brother, Alton Madison.
