Sioux City | Joyce L. Beardshear, 83, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Prairie Estates in Elk Point, SD.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joyce was born Apr. 2, 1933 in Sioux City to Elvin and Emma (Newman) Olmstead. She attended East High School.

On June 28, 1953 she married Vernon G. Beardshear in Sioux City. He died Nov. 21, 1998 in Sioux City.

Joyce worked for St. Luke’s Medical Center for 11 years in housekeeping.

Joyce enjoyed latch hooking, puzzle books and word search. Most of all she loved watching her grandkids.

Survivors include 4 children, Debbie (Ron) Black of Sioux City, Dennis (Connie) Beardshear of Houston, TX, Doug Beardshear of Sioux City and Diana (David) Dandurand of Sioux City; a sister, Delores Townsend of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
