Laura C. Harrison, 91, of Sioux City was called home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2016.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery.
Laura was born July 25, 1925 at Samaritan Hospital in Sioux City, the daughter of Louis J. and Ollie B. Carter. Laura lived in Sioux City most of her life excluding 6 years.
Laura graduated from Central High School in 1943 and attended Morningside College and Sioux City Area Tech College.
On March 17, 1946 she married Eugene D. Harrison in Sioux City, IA. To that union 3 daughters were born, Carolyn Jean, Cornelia Joyce, and Pat Ollene. Laura lived in Portsmouth, VA from 1946 to 1952.
She was active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, participating on the Mother’s Board, Pastors Aide, and the Church Clerk for 41 years. Laura also was the president of the Iowa Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses from 1991-1999.
Survivors include her children: Carolyn Emory, Cornelia Clemmons, and Pat McCoy; her brother Louis J. Carter Jr.; Cousin Ronald Washington whom she was raised with; 7 grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
