Dorothy was born January 15, 1927 in Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Marvel (Parker) Wright. The family moved to Sioux City in 1934 and Dorothy attended Floyd and Lowell grade schools. She married Keith V. Everett on May 5, 1944 in Sioux City. To this union, two sons were born. Keith preceded Dorothy in death on August 9, 2007.
Dorothy worked at KFC preparing salads from 1972-1988, a job that she enjoyed very much. Dorothy loved baseball games but hated bunting, and was so excited to see her beloved Cubs win the World Series.
She enjoyed her Wednesday afternoon movies with Keith, and a lucky trip to the Casino. She could never refuse a homeless cat and would rescue and feed many, including her cat Tina. Dorothy was very generous, giving to PETA, Veteran’s Charities, and becoming an Honorary Member of Boys Town for her many contributions over the years. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her sons: Kevin and wife Sally Everett of Frisco, TX, and Gary and wife Ann Everett of Dakota Dunes, SD; Grandchildren: Sean Everett and fiancé Mia of San Diego, CA, Todd and wife Sandi Everett of Malvern, PA, Kristen and husband John Torno of Sioux City, and Ryan Everett of Sioux City; Great Grandchildren; cousin Marcia Van Den Borre of Tucson, AZ; and a very special and dear friend Velma Ring.
