William Heckart

William Heckart, 65, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, on Monday, November 14, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the family being present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM. William, son of Charles and Nancy (Bodwell) Heckart, was born October 2, 1951, in Waterloo, Iowa. He grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico and graduated from high school in Anchorage, Alaska. He then made his home in Sioux City.

On February 24, 1973, William was united in marriage with Julie Oldenkamp at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Three sons were born to this union. William worked at Sioux City Brick and Tile for 38 years, retiring as plant superintendent.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and enjoyed being in the outdoors – hunting, fishing, gardening and doing woodwork. He cherished spending time with his family and going to the lake.

William is survived by his wife Julie Heckart of Sioux City; three sons: Brent (Amy) Heckart of St. Peters, Missouri; Brian Heckart of Cedar Rapids; and Brandon “B.J.” (Stephanie) Heckart of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren: Ethan, Mallory and Benjamin Heckart (and one more on the way); siblings: Chris (Katherine) Heckart, Mark (Maxine) Heckart, and Ann Heckart; brothers-in-law: Rick (Wendy) Oldenkamp, Daryl (Donna) Oldenkamp, Randy (Kathie) Oldenkamp and Jody (Debi) Oldenkamp; his mother-in-law Darlene Oldenkamp; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law James Oldenkamp.
