Jean Gormally, age 88, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, at a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Friday from 10 AM until service time. Jean M., daughter of Roy and Marjorie (Frick) Scribbins, was born July 21, 1928, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and worked as a bookkeeper at Fantle’s Clothing, Dallas-Hall Ford and Grayson’s Clothing, eventually retiring from Samaritan Retirement Home.
On August 27, 1953, Jean was united in marriage with Charles Gormally in Sioux City. Two sons were born to this union. They were divorced in 1964.
Jean was a member of Sioux City Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and doing artwork.
Jean is survived by a son Stephen R. Gormally of Forrest City; a granddaughter Carolyn Gormally; a grandson Jason Gormally; a sister-in-law Elaine Scribbins; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Patrick Gormally; a brother Edward Scribbins; a sister Virginia (Claudus) Carter; and a cousin Franklyn Frick.
