Sioux City, IA – Kathy Murfield, 60, of Sioux City, IA died September 9, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with Father Dan Rupp officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Kathleen J., daughter of Ruben and Dorothy (Gant) Engel, was born November 8, 1955 in Sioux City, IA.  She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1974.

On May 27, 1977, Kathy was united in marriage to Matthew E. Murfield in Sioux City.  To this union four children were born: Melody, Megan, Matthew and Miranda.  The family made their home in Sioux City.  Kathy worked as a bartender for several Sioux City establishments and worked at the Marina Inn for twenty years.

Kathy enjoyed her dog, Little Joe.  Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her husband, Matt of Sioux City; four children: Melody (David) Kempf of Grant, NE, Megan Murfield of Colorado Springs, CO, Matthew Ryan (Leann) Murfield of Sioux City and Miranda Murfield of Sioux City; six grandchildren: Lillian Kempf, Ashley Kempf, Hannah Kempf, Kaysi Rose Murfield, Matthew Murfield II, and Evelyn Murfield; one great grandson, Boston Lee; three siblings: Deb Bishop of Norwalk, IA, Chris (Kelli) Engel of Sioux City and Theresa (Guy) Hayes of Lincoln, NE; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
