Lois D. Doughty-Appel, 90, of Abbott, Texas, and formerly of Sioux City passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016, in Waco, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 12, 2016, at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
Lois was born September 1, 1926, in Sioux City; she was the daughter of John and Florence (Wharton) Butler. Lois grew up in Sioux City. She married Roy Doughty June 9, 1947, in Sioux City. He passed away on June 17, 1976, in Yankton. She married Donald Appel December 31, 1991, in Sioux City, and he passed away December 11, 2000, in Sioux City.
Lois worked at the Black Steer Restaurant in Yankton for many years. She was a hard worker and was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking pies. Lois also enjoyed being outdoors and gardening.
While living in Sioux City, Lois was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Church Bargain Center.
Survivors include her children: Michael Doughty and his wife Amanda of Mesa, Arizona, Patricia Blaha and her husband John Blaha, Jr., of Abbott, Texas; two brothers: John Butler and his wife Phyllis and Billy Kearnes and his wife Kay; her sister Donnafae Dean; five grandchildren: Laura, Sean, Jordan, Anne and John III; five great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands and three brothers: Wallace, Jimmy Ray, and Kenny.
