Joanna M. Marron, 93 of Newcastle, NE passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in an Omaha, NE Hospital after a brief illness.

 

Funeral services will be at Noon on Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle, NE. Rev. Andrew Sohm will be the celebrant and Rev. John McGuirk will be concelebrating the Mass. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday with a Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. at the Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Newcastle. Joanna was born August 3, 1923 in rural Newcastle; she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Doyle) Mannion. Joanna was the youngest of eight children. She was raised on a farm in rural Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle High School in 1940. Joanna returned to Newcastle to live with her mother after the sudden death of her father.

 

Joanna married Joseph H. Marron June 10, 1947 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle, NE. They were the proud parents of three children, Suzanne, Joseph and Michael. Her husband passed away on January 14, 1982 in Sioux City at the age of 59.

 

Joanna was employed by the American State Bank in Newcastle for 30 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and St. Peter’s Ladies Sodality, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 62 and the Birthday Club.

 

She was an ardent fan of San Francisco Giants baseball, the Cornhusker Football and Volleyball teams and all the sports teams that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in.

 

She is survived by her children: Suzanne Krause and her husband Gary of Omaha, NE, Joseph Marron of Lincoln, NE, Michael Marron of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren: Kristen Reeves (Clint), Patrick Krause, Paul Krause (Trish), Richard Krause (Julie), Alehia Marron, and Justin Marron 16 great grandchildren: Sydney, Kaelyn and Wil Reeves, Conner, Lindsay and Landon Krause, Joshua, Dilan and Mitchell Krause, Jennifer, Justin, Katelyn, Riley and Mason Krause, Gabriel and Elijha Marron and 1 great great granddaughter: Paizley; her sisters in law: Faye Marron, Betty Slagle, Bonnie Lowe (Jim) and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Joanna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph; parents in law: Harry and Pearl Marron, siblings: Eletha Jepson, Marguerite McGuirk, Lucille Bakken, Louis Mannion, James Mannion, Joseph Mannion and Mary Helen Agnew; brothers and sisters in law: William Jepson, BV McGuirk, Frank Bakken, Elna Mannion, Ernest Agnew, Leonard Marron, Eugene and Monica Marron and Phillip Slagle.
