Sioux City, IA – Frances L. Olson, 92, of Sioux City, IA died Sunday, September 4, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City with Pastor Jeff Swanson officiating.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Frances, the daughter of John and Mabel (Nelson) Kruck was born May 27, 1924 at Sioux City.  She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School.  Following high school, she worked as a clerk for Milwaukee Railroad in Sioux City.

On November 28, 1947, Fran was united in marriage to James P. Olson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sioux City.  To this union three sons were born: Rich, Stephen, and Tom.  The family made their home in Sioux City.

Fran was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed being a member of the church’s choir and Women’s Circle.  Family and church were everything to Fran.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and cooking for family dinners.

For the past eight years, Fran made her home at Northern Hills in Sioux City.

She is survived by two sons: Rich Olson and wife Judy and Tom “George” Olson and wife Geri all of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Paula Olson of Sergeant Bluff, IA; six grandchildren: Erin Schuetz and husband Jon of Sergeant Bluff, Matt Klein of Cedar Rapids, IA, Aleisha Olson and fiancé Adam Thorngate-Gottlund of Belmont, CA, Megan Olson Hunold and husband Wes of Sergeant Bluff, James Olson and wife Holly of Sergeant Bluff, and Nichole Olson Sandness and husband Ben of Ames, IA; nine great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James on March 15, 1974; one son, Stephen on March 24, 2015, and one sister, Mary Ellen Kruck.
