Paul W. Deck, 101 of Sioux City, passed away peacefully at his home of natural causes on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Paul was born on March 29, 1915 in Ewing, Nebraska to Paul A. and Bessie (Green) Deck. After graduating from Norfolk Public High School in Nebraska, Paul attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, receiving his B.A. in 1938, Juris Doctorate in 1941. He is a graduate of Nebraska Law School. Paul married Marie I. Larrabee in Norfolk, Nebraska on October 1, 1941. Following his service to his country in WWII as an infantry officer in the United States Army in the African and Italian campaigns, Paul became a life-long resident of Sioux City.
Paul’s law career began at Sifford and Wadden from 1945 until 1950. He worked from 1950 until 1976 as Paul W. Deck Law Offices before finishing his career at Deck and Deck LLP in 2016. Paul was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, Nebraska Bar Association, Iowa Worker’s Compensation Attorneys, and was admitted to practice in the states of Iowa, Nebraska, and the Iowa and Nebraska Federal Courts.
Paul is survived by his wife Marie of Sioux City; son Paul Deck Jr. and his wife Prudence, son Robert Deck and his wife Cindy, son James Deck, and son William Deck and his wife Jan, all of Sioux City, and son Dr. John Deck and his wife Ann of Lincoln, Nebraska; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother Byron Deck and one granddaughter, and one great-granddaugher.
Casket Bearers for Paul’s private Graveside Service will be grandsons Paul A. Deck, Robert B. Deck, Jr., Nathan Deck, Wm Austin Deck, and John M. Deck.
