Richard “Dick” Cabana, 79, of Sioux City, IA, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at his home in Sioux City in the care of his youngest daughter Tracey. Memorial services with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. Richard Ernest, son of Ray and Thelma (Hendrickson) Cabana, was born March 15, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. Richard then served with the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957, and served aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany.
Richard was united in marriage with Roxene “Roxy” Kobernus. He owned and operated many car lots, worked at several area bars, and was employed with a local beer distributor. Richard had a passion for fast cars and boats. He particularly enjoyed spending time with Duane and Tammy Corey at his favorite hangout, Bernies Lawn and Garden. Always with a smile on his face, Richard was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.
Richard is survived by: two daughters Tracey L. Cabana and Stacey R. Cabana of Sioux City; two granddaughters Jordyn Gilmer and Shelby Cabana of Sioux City; a brother Greg Cabana; and two sisters Nancy Irwin and Pam LaScala. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Ralph Behn and wife Roxene.
