SIOUX CITY, IA | Mary Elizabeth Wright, 84, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Per Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private burial was in Correctionville (Iowa) Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mary was born on the family farm near Marcus, Iowa to George and Margaret (Goodburn) Alberty. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School.
On March 1, 1950 she married Kenneth Edward Wright in Elk Point, SD. She worked as an accountant before their son, Dan was born. In 1962, Mary went to work for Verzani Printing and retired in 1987 after 25 years of service. Ken died August 24, 2000 in Sioux City.
Mary enjoyed sewing, knitting, canning and reading. She especially loved her grandchildren. She was a very devoted, spiritual person who had a good sense of humor. Mary was loved by many.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Dan Wright and Pepper Davis of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Renae Wright and Alicia (Terry) Richardson; a brother, Raymond Alberty of Ottertail, MN and his daughter, Sandra (Bob) Kawlewski; and Pepper’s family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Orville Alberty and sisters-in-law, Coral Alberty and Mary Ann Alberty.
