Daniel Blumer, 55, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his home surrounded by family. Prayer service will be at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, 822 Jennings Street, Sunday at 7:00 PM with viewing from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 25, 2016, 11:00 AM, at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Interment will be at a later date. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Daniel, son of Joe and Sandy (Wilcox) Blumer, was born March 28, 1961, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He lived in Fort Dodge until the age of 9, at which time he moved to Sioux City where he graduated from East High School in 1980. In 1988, Dan moved to a group home in Eagle Grove where he met his future wife.
On August 28, 1993, Dan was united in marriage with Patricia “Tricia” Turner in Eagle Grove. In 1998, the couple settled in Sioux City.
Dan enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. He loved dogs, visiting on the CB radio, and tinkering in the garage. With a Mountain Dew in hand and sitting in his favorite chair, he loved watching classic TV programs and movies. He was a collector of eagles and was a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Dan is survived by his wife Tricia Blumer of Sioux City; his mother Sandy Gunnink of Sioux City; two sisters: Debbie (Rick) VanRoekel and Dee (Bob) Armbright; four brothers: Brian (Sue) Gunnink; Galen Gunnink; Darin (Jolene) Gunnink and Jason (Susan) Gunnink; Aunt and Uncle Bev and Dick Wilcox; and by his cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Blumer; his father, Frank Gunnink; sister Darcy; and his grandparents.
