SIOUX CITY, IA - Mary M. McClintock, 76, of Sioux City, co-founder of McClintock Insurance, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, surrounded by her family at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016
at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City with Father Donald Ries officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus, IA. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday with family present 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mary was born August 15, 1939 in Moville, IA. She was the daughter of Cecil L. and Elsie A. (Dockweiler) St. Peter, and grew up on the family farm near Moville and attended Country School in Climbing Hill, IA. She graduated from Moville High School then attended Bible College in Minneapolis, MN.
After returning to Sioux City she worked for J. Watt and Wooldridge Insurance Agency and later the Hassenger - Walsh Insurance Agency.
On June 30, 1962, she was united in marriage to James L. McClintock at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City.
In 1962, Jim and Mary bought an insurance agency in Sioux City which later was named McClintock Insurance, Inc. Together they continued to work throughout the years expanding their business in Sioux City and opened a location in Le Mars, IA and Mapleton, IA. Jim passed away February 2, 2016, in Sioux City.
Mary was a past member of the Women's Insurance Association, American Business Women's Association, Rotary Club of Le Mars, Quota International of Sioux City and served on the board of the Sioux City Art Center. She was also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Mary was a 2016 nominee of the Sioux City Women of Excellence Award.
Mary enjoyed traveling extensively, spending time at Okoboji, playing cards and going to sporting events. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and dancing. Most of all, Mary loved spending quality time with her family and grandkids.
Survivors include her 3 sons: Tim McClintock, Jeff (Barb) McClintock and Bob McClintock (fiancée, Patty Considine) all of Sioux City; 6 grandchildren, Megan, Leisa (fiancé, Jeff Van Den Top), Katie, Ryan, Tyler McClintock and Michael Considine; brother, John (Evelyn) St. Peter of Sioux City. Brothers-in-law: Tom (Donna) McClintock, Bill (Joan) McClintock, Ron (Joyce) McClintock and sister-in-law Marge St. Peter and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, brothers Harry and David St. Peter and an infant sister Leena Mae St. Peter.
