Patricia “Patty” Gaul, age 54, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016, at a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel where Patty’s family will be present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Patricia Jean, daughter of Larry and Kathy (Becker) Lauer, was born July 15, 1962, in Yankton, South Dakota. She grew up at Hartington, Nebraska, until the age of 10, and then in Sioux City where she graduated from Heelan High School in 1980. Patty then attended Western Iowa Tech for two years.
On September 19, 1987, Patty was united in marriage with Randy Gaul at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. Three children were born to this union. Patty and Randy made their home in Sioux City. Patty worked at Merry Maids and Gateway before doing babysitting and staying at home with her kids.
Patty enjoyed collecting snowmen and other Christmas decorations, reading, doing word searches, and having her nails done. She liked socializing with her family and loved her children very much.
Survivors include: her husband Randy Gaul of Sioux City; two children Sarah and Christopher; Siblings: Ann (Marcus) Sullivan; Steve (Kathy) Lauer and Sandy Trobaugh; her parents Larry and Kathy Lauer of Hartington; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, a son Matthew and her brother Michael.
