Eleanor Stone, 99, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 in Gainesville, FL.

Services will be at 10:30 on Saturday, July 23rd at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2915 Glenn Ave. in Sioux City with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Eleanor was born December 8, 1916 in Sloan, IA to Jesse and Emily (Carlson) Briggs. Except for the last seven years of her life she lived in the Sloan and Sioux City areas. She was a housewife, but also spent many years as the receptionist for Dr. Herbert Harris in the Morningside area.

She married Doyle Stone on October 10, 1935. They were married for 72 years before Doyle passed away in 2008. Three children were born to this marriage.

She became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in March 1949, and remained an active member until relocating to Florida in 2009.

Her activities included bowling, bridge and golf, participating in bowling and golf leagues through her 88th year. She was a long-term member of the Floyd Park Women’s Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Clarke of Gainesville, FL; two sons, Ron and his wife Elaine of La Mesa, CA; and Dick and his wife Carol of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Bronson of San Jose, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Doyle; her parents; son-in-law Marion Clarke; great-grandchild Dakota Mason and two sisters, Leona Bennett and Edna Finnegan.

Memorials may be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church in memory of Eleanor Stone.
