Mary J. Dutler

January 21, 1930 — June 12, 2016

SIOUX CITY | Mary Jean Dutler, 86, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home after a brief illness.

 

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Armand J. Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. Thursday followed by visitation until service time all at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Mary was born January 21, 1930 in Ashton, IA the daughter of John A. and Rose (Meinen) Krogman. She grew up on the family farm near Ashton.

 

Mary met her future husband, Ilo L. Dutler at the Golden Pheasant restaurant in Remsen, IA where she worked as a waitress. They were married August 5, 1952 in Ashton, IA.

 

The couple moved to Sioux City in 1961 when Ilo was transferred with Gulf Oil Company. Mary worked for Zenith Corporation as a coil winder and as a homemaker.

 

Mary was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was known as “the pie lady”. Mary was a devote Catholic who enjoyed life.

 

Survivors include her son and his wife, Jim and Jane Dutler of Sioux City; two grandsons, Andrew Dutler and his wife, Lindsey of Sioux City and Mike Dutler of Fayetteville, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Violet Dutler and baby boy Dutler on the way.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.

 

Pallbearers will be Andrew Dutler, Mike Dutler, Pat Boeshart, Paul Boeshart, Tim Swedean and Steve Koch. Honorary pallbearers will be Lindsey Dutler and Nanette Koch.
