Margaret Carter, 97, of Sioux City was born to eternal life and reunited with Wayne, her husband of 73 years, on Friday, June 10, 2016 at a Sioux City nursing home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Margaret Lucille, daughter of Ernie and Edna (Phillips) Weathers, was born March 27, 1919, in Oto, Iowa. She grew up in Oto and attended Oto Public Schools where she graduated from in 1937.
On August 12, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage with Wayne Carter at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Margaret and Wayne made their home in Sioux City their entire married lives, except for when Wayne served in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas during World War II.
She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church and was active in the Grace Church Methodist Women. Margaret loved playing golf, bridge, and bowling and was a longtime member of Floyd Park Women’s Golf. In her later years, she enjoyed quilting.
Margaret was a loving mother to: a daughter Connie Jerman and her husband Roger of Seymour, IN; two sons: William Carter and his wife Constance of Glendale, WI and John Carter of Sheldon, Iowa. She was the proud grandmother of Joe and his wife Francesca (Tekula) Jerman and Laura (Sam) Karan; and great-grandmother of Jake and Carter Jerman. She is also survived by sisters Ernestine Steinhoff and Mary Lou (Marvin) Norby, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Vera Lee.
