Cloyd B. Gunn

November 11, 1933 — June 10, 2016

Cloyd B. “Pal” Gunn, 82, of South Sioux City, formally of Sioux City passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at his residence.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Clyde Pritchett officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Pal was born November 11, 1933 in Sioux City, the son of Kenneth and Agnes (Loeb) Gunn. He attended the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Pal also joined the National Guard. He married Betty Fiala on June 25, 1982 in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2006. He worked for Highway 20 Auto Parts Store and then as a mechanic for Sears for 25 plus years. After retirement, Pal worked at McDonalds. He enjoyed meeting his friends from Sears for coffee and at the mall, gardening, and traveling. Together, Betty and Pal loved to collect movies and decorate their home, both inside and outside, for Christmas. Pal had a good heart with a great sense of dry humor.

Survivors include his children: Judith (Larry) Salmons of Las Vegas, NV, Everett (Paula) Gunn of South Sioux City, NE, Timothy Jon (Lori) Gunn of Marion, IA, Roger Gunn of South Sioux City, NE, Renee Heisel of South Sioux City, NE, and Rick (Michelle) Gunn of Sioux City; 18 Grandchildren; 28 Great Grandchildren; a brother Kenny (Karen) Gunn of Reno, NV; and a sister Peggy Wilson of California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, son Randy Gunn, Grandson Tony Gunn, Brothers: “Gene” Riley, Harold Gunn, and Albert Gunn, and a sister Maxine lost in childhood.
