SIOUX CITY | Jean Buckner Klopstad, 83, of Sioux City passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at a local hospital of complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jay Denne officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be the hour prior to the service at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Jean was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of John Jefferson and Bessie (Dewey) Buckner. She moved with her family to Sioux City in 1939. Jean graduated from Central High School in 1950, and then attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo., for two years. In 1954, she graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. After college she worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc., in Kansas City, Mo., for two years.
Jean was a member of Chapter IL, PEO, and Portfolio Study Club and a former member of the Sioux City Junior League. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and a former member of the Altar Guild, serving as president for two years.
Jean enjoyed reading, playing bridge, volunteering at the Cancer Center and being with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
