Pauline "Peg" Roder

Pauline “Peg” Roder, of Sioux City, Iowa and formerly of Remsen, Iowa passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at a local hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 13, 2016, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Sioux City with visitation at church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Pauline “Peg” Margaret, daughter of Nicholas and Mildred (Garvin) Frank, was born November 5, 1930, in Le Mars, Iowa. She grew up in Remsen and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1948. 

On November 27, 1950, Peg was united in marriage with Jerome “Jerry” Roder at St. Mary’s Church in Remsen. Nine children were born to this union. Peg and Jerry farmed near Remsen. Peg was a stay-at-home mom and later worked at the Golden Pheasant. In 1993, the couple sold the farm and Peg moved to Sioux City to be closer to Jerry when he entered a nursing home due to declining health.

Peg was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and enjoyed flowers, gardening, and volunteering these talents at Queen of Peace.

Mom will be missed by: daughter Sue (Fred) Brown of Waterbury, NE; and their children: Aaron Brown; Sara (Tyler) Cody and their son Julian; Jason (Amanda) Brown and their children Jaxon and Addison; Judy Brown and Jon Brown; daughter Gerianne (George) Olson of Sioux City; and their children Matt Klein and Nichole (Ben) Sandness and their daughter Nora Pauline; daughter Jan(Steve) Green of Sioux City and their children Peyton (Ben) and their children Lincoln and Rebecca Bogner; son Nicholas Roder of Sioux City; son Steven (Sandi) Roder of Remsen and their children Jessica (Aaron) Canady and their children Rylee, Ryder, Reese, April and Saige; Justin DeVries; Kristin (Jared) Steffen and their children Jadyn, Kamden and Kezden; son Dan (Judy) Roder of Sioux City and their children Elizabeth, Jacob, Sam and Riley.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Jerome “Jerry” Roder; three sons: twins Patrick and Michael, and David; a son-in-law Thomas Klein; and a sister Betty (Jack) Willis.
