Maria M. Quinn

Maria M. Quinn, 66, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at her residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Maria was born on May 29, 1950 in Garner, IA to Albino and Trinidad (Ochoa) Flores. She graduated from Des Moines Tech in Des Moines, IA and attended college in Connecticut and at Elgin Community College. She was united in marriage to Denis Quinn on August 1, 1969 in Des Moines, IA. Maria worked as a Day Care Teacher and Police Clerk. She spent the majority of her time being a homemaker and raising her children.

Maria enjoyed painting and making various crafts, reading and watching soccer. She loved being around and helping children.

She is survived by her husband Denis Quinn of Sioux City; 2 daughters Nelia Quinn of Sioux City and Megan (Nicandro) Castro of Peoria, IL; 6 grandchildren, Trina; Seth; Gerardo; Maritza; Rennan and Aurora; 1 great granddaughter Elizabeth; 2 sisters Andrea Quijano and Elida Gomez both of Des Moines, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Oralia Ellis and Consuelo Flores of Des Moines.
