Richard Stroman

Richard Stroman, age 74, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at his home. A Celebration of Life gathering will be at Richard’s home, 1533 Helmer Street, Sioux City, on Saturday, May 28, 2016, starting at 9:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Military Honors at 5:00 PM. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Richard Daniel Stroman, son of Duane and Rose (Bixby) Stroman, was born May 14, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School.

On October 16, 1961, Richard was united in marriage with Ruth Hewitt in Sioux City. In March of 1962, Richard was inducted into the U.S. Army and for much of his services worked as a mechanic in Germany. After receiving his honorable discharge in March of 1964, he returned to Sioux City and worked at Roberts Dairy for a short time before beginning a 27-year career with the maintenance shop and as a boiler engineer at Morningside College. During his retirement, he enjoyed driving van for Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Richard was a very good grandpa and great-grandpa and enjoyed teaching them about whatever he was doing. Fishing, collecting anything, working on small engines, and spending time with his cat and dog, were the activities he enjoyed the most.

Survivors include: two sons Vince Stroman and wife Linda and Duane Stroman and wife Judy; a daughter Tina Stroman; three brothers: Bruce Stroman and wife Betty; Larry Stroman and wife Jan; and Kenny Stroman and wife Lois; and a sister Rosella Goodwin; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, and two brothers Jim and John.
