William C. Mech, Sr., 60, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at a local care center.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Deacon Rodney Wiebelhaus officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at

Will was born March 20, 1956 in Sioux City, the son of Victor and Elfrieda (Heinzman) Mech, immigrants from Germany and Ukraine. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1974. Will worked as an electrician for the City of Sioux City for 42 years. He enjoyed electronics, going to the circus, music, and sports with his favorite teams being the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Will was a very loyal, loving, and giving person and made many charitable donations to various Siouxland organizations. His greatest love was spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his children: Tim Mech of Kansas City, KS, Cassondra (Toby) Barnt of Omaha, NE, Krystal (Lee) Lohff of Sioux Falls, SD, Nick Mech of Sioux City, Brianna (Mitch) Glover of Yankton, SD, Willie Mech of Lincoln, NE, and Jonathan (Jessica) Mech of Sioux City; 12 Grandchildren with one on the way; 2 brothers: George (Mae) Mech of Davenport, IA and Wally (Darlene) Mech of Burnsville, MN; 1 sisters: Freida (Dave) Garvis of Bel Air, MD; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Victor Mech Jr., and niece Sarah Mech.
Memorials may be given in Will’s memory to the Carmelite Nuns or the Siouxland Food Bank.
